Durango Counseling also focuses on new and progressive counseling therapies to stay on the cutting edge of healing practices and new schools of thought. Progressive therapies go beyond traditional talk therapies to consider creative and different ways to think about the way that we experience the world and our mental health.
These new therapeutic practices incorporate western and eastern philosophies and focus on the unique interrelatedness of the mind and the body. These therapies can include the incorporation of bodywork with counseling therapies such as the Integrated Somatic Psychotherapy – a unique, holistic form of body centered therapy (formerly Touch Focused Therapy) – as well as practices such as mindfulness, meditation and the exploration of the dichotomies of life.
